I first met Nic & Andrew in early 2024 when I was Head of AI at Macquarie. Nic sent me a cold DM asking for an informational chat. At the time I didn’t realize that I was actually messaging with Andrew, who was methodically testing outbound growth campaign strategies. They didn’t realize that I was planning my departure from finance and return to tech. We couldn’t have picked a better time to find each-other.
I booked a demo meeting with Nic. I was blown away that a team of two had made something which eclipsed the agent my internal team spent months developing, especially for a project that I had personally spearheaded. I was excited, and soon after, we had a meeting over coffee that turned into a several hour long walk around midtown Manhattan where we puzzled over the strange future of AI and the economy soon-to-come.
Nic & Andrew left me with a strong impression that I later told them: I wasn’t sure what the future would hold, but I was absolutely convinced that these two founders would find incredible success together.
We stayed in touch after I left Macquarie to travel and plan a wedding with my now wife (spoiler: Nic & Andrew were in attendance). I did my best to give my advice about how to navigate financial services markets as they built and I siesta’d.
I joined them as soon as I landed back in the US in October 2024, beginning a life changing journey. We were in the trenches together building bespoke environments and agents for some of the largest financial services and insurance firms in the world. I re-learned how to code, now with AI, in a forward-deployed engineering role.
We even moved across the country to live together in a hacker house in Palo Alto as we positioned ourselves to perfectly drop in on the RL wave that has swept across AI today.
My decision to join Fleet (and my wife’s support in making this jump from my cushy finance job) was the best career and intellectual experience I made since graduating college. I went from watching from the sidelines, meeting with the CEOs of frontier labs and name-brand tech companies in a passive investing role, to building a generational company alongside these two immensely talented founders. I’ve engaged in a culture of unbridled optimism at a team that pushes the frontier of agentic AI capabilities ever further.
We are bending the arc of AI towards the best possible future. There is still so much left to do.
