Our Support of American AI

At Fleet, we believe in the power of data to align artificial intelligence, not only towards overall human safety, but also towards the democratic values that have the strongest influence on our collective human flourishing. This will be one of the greatest technical challenges of our age.

As American technologists today, it is our responsibility to ensure that democracy wins.

We do not and will not work with Chinese AI labs or PRC-based companies, and will continue to exclusively partner with American and allied labs and enterprises. We have no contracts, no data sales, and no resold datasets. We have no plans to start now. We are committed to doing all within our power as an organization to advance AI with the same democratic values that have shaped the United States and her allies. We encourage all other American startups to do the same.

According to Epoch AI, non-US labs are lagging the frontier by 7 months on average and are closing the gap fast. Every dataset sold only shortens this gap. Frontier data is one of the hardest leads to copy, and one of the largest advantages America and her allies have in the AI race.

Exporting American expertise is also a real and existential national security threat. Data, like compute, is a strategic national asset - for American Labs just as much for America herself. We must secure American data and build artificial intelligence with the same democratic values that we hold dear.
